Ingredients for Easy Cinnamon Twists

The list for these cinnamon twists is short and sweet. Here’s what you need to gather for this recipe:

Rhodes bread rolls: If you’ve been around for awhile, you know we love Rhodes around here. Their bread dough is so versatile and can be used for main dishes, sides, desserts, breakfasts and more. You’ll always find a package of the rolls or loaves in my freezer. I prefer to use the rolls for this recipe for easy portioning but if all you have available is the loaves, that will work too!

Granulated sugar

Ground cinnamon

Vegetable or canola oil, for frying

That’s all you need for these semi-homemade donuts that will absolutely impress your family and friends. And all I’m saying is nobody needs to know the dough isn’t homemade, they won’t be able to tell anyway.

Rise and Prep Dough

This recipe makes eight cinnamon twists so you’ll need to thaw eight rolls. If you want to make more, thaw your chosen amount. Read package directions and thaw the rolls according to directions. There is both a room temperature and refrigerator method so use whichever fits your needs.

Once the dough is risen, cut each roll in half. Roll each section into a rope then twist two ropes together. Be sure to seal both sides to be sure they don’t unwind while frying. Set aside and continue with remaining rolls.

Fry Cinnamon Twists

Heat oil to 325 degrees. Once hot, add the cinnamon twists and fry for a couple minutes per side, or until light golden.

Remove the twists from the oil and toss in the cinnamon sugar immediately. You may need to gently press the sugar into the nooks and crannies of the twists. Just be careful not to burn yourself.

Serving and Storing Easy Cinnamon Twists

These are best served hot and fresh out of the oil. That said, if you need to make them ahead of time you can serve them at room temperature. You can also reheat them in the air fryer for a minute or keep them in a warm oven until serving.

If you have any leftovers, store in an airtight container once completely cool. Keep at room temperature for up to two days.
