With early and busy mornings, I’m always looking for easy breakfasts that will keep my kids full until lunch. With a picky one in my house, this can be hard to do sometimes.
Instant Pot Oatmeal to the Rescue
There are so many things to love about this Instant Pot Oatmeal. Most importantly, it takes minutes to prepare and cook. Simply dump all the ingredients in the Instant Pot, give it a quick seal and set it to cook for 5 minutes.
After cooking, allow the pressure to release naturally for 5 minutes then manually release the remaining steam. Stir and it’s ready to serve.
Another great thing, it reheats really well. So go ahead and double or triple the amount to make a big batch that will last your family all week long.
Ingredients
Here’s what you need for this Instant Pot Oatmeal:
These ingredients and this cooking method yields the creamiest oatmeal around. No thick, gloopy oatmeal here.
If you don’t have heavy cream or don’t eat dairy, you can feel free to leave it out. But I definitely recommend adding it if you can. It adds the dreamiest texure.
To make this even quicker and easier in the morning, you could mix together the dry ingredients in the Instant Pot the night before. Then when you wake up all you have to do is add the water and heavy cream and set it to cook.
Who needs a store-bought packet when you can make it just as easily on your own?
Optional Mix-Ins
I like some texture in my oatmeal and if you feel the same way, there are so many options you can add to this recipe.
My favorite add in for oatmeal is nuts. Pecans, walnuts, almonds, I’ll take any of it to add that glorious crunch.
Chia seeds are also a good option for a little texture and added health benefits too.
If you want a little tartness to balance out the sweetness, craisins are a great option. They happen to be a favorite of both of my kids.

I made this with. 3 minor tweaks. I like cinnamon so I added a tablespoon instead. Then I also added a tablespoon of honey and finally, I cooked it for 10 mins, because I have an 8 qt pot and I like mine thicker. But the recipe it a definite keeper.
