Hey friends!! I’m starting a new monthly series today called Let’s Catch Up where I will share my some of my favorite things from the month. I’ve been feeling a pull to post more lifestyle content here and I’m finally doing it. Those of you that are here strictly for the food, don’t worry because the tasty recipes aren’t going anywhere.
Here’s what you’ll find in these Let’s Catch Up posts:
- Beauty Favorites
- DIY projects I have tried or have my eye on
- New products I’ve tried and love
- Books I’m reading / new favorite cookbooks
- New trends
- Most popular recipes on my site this month
- Current obsessions (whether it’s food related or other)
I’m super excited about this new series and I hope you all enjoy reading about the things I’m currently loving. If there’s anything you want me to talk about, need any recommendations or have any questions, let me know in the comments below.
My Latest Obsession
Let’s start things off with what I know best, food. Have you all been able to find the Pancake Bread at Trader Joe’s? I look for it every time I go to my local TJ’s but they haven’t had it which makes me terribly sad. Pancakes and quick bread combined sounds like the ultimate combination and I’m real sad I can’t try it.
Luckily, I just discovered that Julie over at Table for Two created a copycat recipe and I CANNOT wait to try it this weekend.
All My Favorites in One Place
I started my own little Amazon store filled with all my favorite kitchen items and a smattering of home items I swear by. As I think of more things I’ll be updating the list.
If you’re in need of an awesome whisk, new skillet or an awesome and super reasonably priced essential oil diffuser be sure to check it out. *Please note that if you purchase anything I may receive a small commission at no cost to you. Read more about my disclosure policy here.
Living in This
I just bought this pullover a few weeks ago and I’m loving it. It’s lighter than a sweatshirt but heavier than a t-shirt. It’s great for throwing over workout gear or pairing with jeans and some booties. There are lots of other great options here too if admitting you’re a weird mom isn’t your thing.
Adding Some Green to My Life
I’ve majorly been into plants lately. They just make everything more home-y and natural in my opinion and I love the pops of green throughout our home. I especially love succulents because well, I’m not the best at keeping said plants alive. If something needs to be watered more than twice a week it can’t come home with me.
That’s where Succulent Studios comes in. It’s a monthly subscription that send two cute little succs straight to your door. On the first of the month they reveal their two selections on their Instagram page. I’ve never really gotten into the whole subscription box trend. I get the appeal but I’m just kind of picky and I don’t want to spend money on something I’m not sure I’ll like or use.
I know I’ll like plants though. The other bonus is if I’m running out of space, don’t like the selections that month or don’t want to spend money I can skip the month, skip three months, put my account on hold or gift that month to someone. I love that they make it easy to skip out if needed.
If you’re interested in signing up for your own subscription, use this link for $5 off your first purchase (this isn’t sponsored and I spend my own money on this subscription each month).
What I’ve Been Reading
I just finished listening to Educated and oh my goodness. I went through it in a matter of days and it’s not a short book. This memoir is shocking and inspiring and was hard to read at some points. The author was born in Idaho to parents who didn’t believe in public education and never attended school until she was accepted to BYU at the age of 17. The book tells of her childhood, her survivalist parents and her amazing track to earning a PhD.
I also recently read I’ll Be There for You: The One About Friends and I was kind of disappointed. If you’re a die hard Friends fan like I am you’ll enjoy the smattering of tidbits but it just left me wanting more.
It’s pretty general and filled with a lot of fluff and unnecessary tangents. The author previously wrote for magazines and that’s kind of how the book read to me. Like a really long magazine or buzzfeed type article. It isn’t well written, is a bit repetitive and bounced around. So I guess in this new series I’ll be sharing things I’m not totally loving too.
Most Popular Recipe
My most popular recipe is always my spicy crispy fried chicken so I guess I’m going to share the second most popular this month. My Copycat Taco Bell Quesadilla Sauce. We make it on the regular and I promise you it’s just like the real deal.
I took new photos of it this month and updated the post. The pictures before were so bad and did not give it justice. A little new life was all it needed to get that boost.
Wrap Up
These are a few of my favorite things.
That’s all I have for you this month! I hope you love this new series and if you have anything you want me to try out or talk about, let me know!
