Today I’m sharing a list of 2017 Reader Favorite Recipes. From appetizers to main dishes to dessert, these are all your favorite recipes shared this year on Meg’s Everyday Indulgence.
As we wrap up this crazy, exciting and busy year I wanted to take some time to look back on the past 12 months to see what you all loved, cooked and viewed the most. It’s always interesting to see which posts were most popular and helpful in planning for the upcoming year. There is a really great mix and variety of courses and dishes this year and I’m sharing the top 17 with you all today.
Thank you for taking time to read posts, cook recipes, share, comment and provide feedback throughout the year. Your support and readership mean the world to me and I’m so grateful you stop by this little space of mine.
I hope you all had a Merry Christmas and have a happy New Years.
#1 Hibachi Chicken
I was so surprised by the immediate popularity of this hibachi chicken. Not that it’s not delicious but it’s something I’ve been making for years and just never thought to share. The fact that it’s only a few ingredients and a super quick fix definitely makes sense. Plus, who can afford to go to a Japanese steak house too often? Now you can make it at home.
#2 Homemade Coffee Syrups
I’m so glad these homemade coffee syrups were a favorite this year with you all because they are in the top 5 for me too. I make one every week to stir into my cold brew coffee each morning. My current favorite for the season is the chocolate mint. I shared two other varieties, vanilla cupcake and brown sugar cinnamon, as well. They only take minutes to make and can be stored in the fridge.
#3 Chocolate Overload Cake
I had a feeling when I made this Chocolate Overload Cake for Noah’s birthday that it would be a huge hit. Chocolate cake, chocolate frosting, all the chocolate candy and a surprise inside makes for a chocoholics dream come true.
#4 Patriotic Cheesecake Fruit Salad
I love a patriotic treat and apparently you guys do too. Fresh, sweet and tart berries and a simple cheesecake sauce make for a festive and cool treat on a summer night.
#5 Halloween Queso Dip
You guys were digging the holiday themed dishes this year and that makes me oh so happy. This Halloween Queso Dip is made festive with pureed spinach and three different cheeses.

#6 Peppered Bacon Pepper Jack Biscuits
I mean, carbs, cheese and bacon? I had a feeling this one would be popular with you guys. Delicious on their own, made into breakfast sandwiches or as a side.
#7 BBQ Kielbasa Bites
Quick and easy recipes always resonate well and these BBQ Kielbasa Bites couldn’t get any simpler. A great appetizer or last minute dinner.
#8 One Pot Cheeseburger Pasta
Simple, staple pantry ingredients and one pot makes for the best kind of weeknight meal. Plus, it’s a remake and better version of the boxed stuff we grew up on.
#9 Chicken Katsu
When I shared this one I wasn’t sure how it would go over since it’s not a well know dish but I was so happy to see Chicken Katsu made the list. It’s one of those happy memory meals for me and I hope it becomes one for you guys too.
#10 Cuban Wraps
These Cuban Wraps may be my absolute favorite recipe from the year. Delicious slow roasted pork, smoky ham, melted Swiss and tart, crunchy pickles all wrapped up in a flour tortilla. So dang good.
#11 Thai Chicken Fingers
You guys were also loving the ethnic foods this year. These crispy tenders are coated in panko bread crumbs and unsweetened coconut then drizzled with a delicious peanut sauce. A great way to get the kids to branch out a little.
#12 Sausage Pancakes
These Sausage Pancakes are the ultimate breakfast lovers dream. A sausage patty in the middle of a buttermilk pancake makes breakfast (or dinner) a breeze.
#13 Slow Cooker Potato Corn Chowder
This one was shared late in the year but you all must have been really craving soup to have it make the list. It’s cooked in the slow cooker, making it super easy.
#14 Vanilla Cupcake Frappuccino
This Vanilla Cupcake Frappuccino ties in with another reader favorite this year, Homemade Coffee Syrups. This cool, creamy drink can be made with or without coffee for a fun and cheap treat at home.
#15 Bacon Pinto Beans
I was surprised to see this one on the list. Don’t get me wrong, they are completely delicious (and freeze well too) but they are a pretty simple side dish without much glamour. That’s why I love doing these at the end of the year.
#16 Avocado BBQ Chicken Cheddar Melt
Grilled barbecue chicken, melted cheddar and lots of avocado slices make up this super simple and healthy main dish. I love making this one on a busy weeknight.
#17 Thai Turkey Meatballs with Spiralized Cucumber Salad
This is one of my favorites from the year too. It’s a whole meal in one. I love the strong Thai flavors in the meatballs and the fact that it’s a light meal but still super filling.
