Today I’m sharing some of my favorite photos from our Colorado weekend. We hiked, went to the top of Pike’s Peak and cheered on Air Force to victory. It was a super fun trip with just my boys creating memories I will always cherish.
After school last Thursday we picked up Noah from school and told him we were going somewhere. We went to Sonic to get cherry limeades and he thought that was the treat then noticed immediately as we drove by our neighborhood without turning. We told him we had another errand to run. After driving for a few minutes in a direction we rarely go, he started asking questions. We were able to field the questions for about a half hour before he started to get frustrated so we decided to give him a hint, his binoculars he got from Pike’s Peak last year. He read what they said and asked “COLORADO??” He was so excited and felt like a little rebel to get to skip school for a day.
Day one was spent at the Garden of the Gods and Pikes Peak.
We took the cog railway to the top of Pike’s Peak. We stayed close to the middle, ate the famous donuts and got snowed on in September.
The next day was spent at Seven Falls. If you ever visit Colorado Springs you have to go here. The walk to the falls was absolutely incredible. Then when you get there you can take an elevator in the mountain, which Noah was amazed about, to get to the Eagle’s Nest which is the best area to view the complete falls.
After the viewing area came the 200 narrow, slippery stairs of death. Ok so that’s a little dramatic but I’m terrified of heights so that’s how it felt in my brain.
We all made it to the top then did a little 30 minute trail to a smaller waterfall, Midnight Falls.
After we made it back down we had an amazing lunch (I’ll share about that in another post soon) then headed to the Air Force v. Navy game. We had amazing 4th row seats thanks to Joel’s company, Hudl. It was really cool to be that close to the action and players on the side lines. The atmosphere was definitely different from Husker games but it was so amazing to see the comradery, pride in service and gratitude of all the fans. At almost every timeout and in between quarters then did fun activities with the students and fans as well as honoring different families, children and alumni for their service. Being an Air Force Brat, it was very cool experience.
On our last morning we visited Helen Hunt Falls and went on a small hike before heading home for school the next day. It was an amazing surprise trip with Noah that I will always cherish and I hope that he will too. We got to do so many things that would have been so much more difficult if girlfriend had been with us. I’m so thankful to my parents for keeping her for the weekend to give us that opportunity.
I mentioned food earlier and if you follow me on Instagram, you may have seen some of the deliciousness we ate while in Colorado Springs. I’ll be sharing some of our food favorites with you this week.

Garden of the Gods looks like it lives up to the name.
